"The Farm Bill affects every person, every business, and every family in South Dakota, so it's critical that these voices are heard." Rep. Herseth Sandlin said. "I was pleased to host the Agriculture Committee for a field hearing on May 18, so that members of the Ag Committee could see firsthand what our great state has to offer. Now it is time for residents of the state to tell the Committee what our ranchers, farmers, and rural communities need in the new bill."

Rep. Herseth Sandlin was joined by a bipartisan group of 11 members of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee for a field hearing in Sioux Falls on May 18. The hearing was held at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, and included testimony from a range of South Dakotans representing diverse agricultural and rural interests, including grain production, biofuels and forestry products.

The written statements of witnesses testifying at the hearing can be found by visiting the Committee on Agriculture's website http://agriculture.house.gov/hearings/statements.html.
